Wonderful Red

Wonderful Red

It is not where the Red Sox made their debut back in 1901. It's not even the same place it used to be back in 1926, before the first fire that destroyed part of the left field bleachers foul line that have not been replaced. What a spectacle that must have been seen burning for 4 hours with a standard 5-alarm and watch the recent construction going up in smoke.

But a year later, in 1934, the new Fenway Park opened and the Red Sox were beaten 6-5 in 11 innings against the Washington Senators. That same year, the wall of timber in the left field has been filed and only two years later, in 1936, a sign of technologically Times reported by 23-foot screen, which was established just over the wall in left field.

Do you know your history of where the Boston Red Sox played when at home? Let's take it back to the beginning to 1901 when there was the Grounds Huntington Avenue. The official date has been May 8, 1901 with a capacity that was slightly less than 12,000, Red Sox big names like Cy Young accomplished a feat many players could not dream of launching the first perfect game in 1904. Proof of entry point in 1993 when a statue of Cy was placed where home plate was. With center field over 650 feet, was it a wonder?

Even with credit for hosting the first World Series AL NL her active in 1903, it was not enough to keep the Huntington Grounds to see their last game in October 1911. And so, in 1912, the Red Sox arrived at Fenway Park. It is the same year that Hugh Bradley along its final resting place.

With an initial capacity of 35,000 before the two fires in 1946, seats for the Heaven were added to the park. Just one year later, in keeping with changes that would later become the current standards, the Red Sox played their game one night and defeated who? You guessed it, the White Sox, 5-3.

Perhaps there is a tacit synergy between the Red Sox and Fenway Park as the year after year if history and the various opponents the Red Sox pitchers have continued to Babe Ruth to Clay Buchholz on the mound to hitters without belt clearly against the likes of teams from the Washington Senators to the Baltimore Orioles.

TRUE enough, no one has equaled Cy Thurs perfect, but with a mile long list of achievements that includes rare list already populated with the Red Sox players who have hit for the cycle through this team history, there is no room for heads hung here.

It does not take a genius to see that, year after year, the Red Sox is living the World Series, AL Division Series and AL Championship Series against all, the New York Giants in 1912 for the Colorado Rockies in 2007.
