Do I need a license of sorts to sell goods on consignment?
a) Do I need a license to sell kinds of goods Consignment? I make earrings of the home that I intend to sell in stores homemade-goods/vintage. b) Can I use stamps that I have on my packing or is interfering with the makers stamp copy right? I sell the earrings no model stamp after all. c) I buttons that have name brands on them. Can I make earrings and selling them or violating something? We could compare that to the resale clothing they came from what is legal …
1. you need a business license from the city where you live and a resale license the tax deductible if you live in a state that collects sales taxes. You'll also need a business account at the bank for monies earned as well as place an account for taxes collected. Do not mix money from companies in your personal account as the IRS causes great pain for that. place in a business account and then "pay" yourself. If there is an association of small businesses in your area, they can usually help. keep meticulous records of all audit by the IRS. B & C I think are acceptable. some manufacturers get weird about this stuff, but I am sure that you are small enough not to be a threat.
