I RENT Tuesday, and I need a costume. Me and others are not of the main characters, so she told us to just be our own characters. I became homeless, optimistic person. So I wear blue jeans torn, yellow tank top, a green jacket with a green Plastic Necklace Peace Sign, a green socks and shoes. Good? Bad?
If you're a homeless person, wear the clothes you wear to do yard work. a necklace peace sign sounds just ridiculous. What are you optimistic about? all? not possible. choose one specific thing that you are optimistic (useful on rent, I see someone be optimistic about finding a cure for AIDS) and wear something that represents that. find one of these inspi (red) T-shirts, or make one with a slogan relevant to the lease period, circa 1995. the link below for a Swiss ad campaign from 1995, it says "STOP AIDS" with the "O" word "stop" being a condom. RENT is being active, and all the characters in their stage represent some part of this struggle. Jon Larsen, the writer / director of this show, had four friends die of AIDS, and he used their names as characters in supporting "life" issue. was something that would fit, as an actor, you must fulfill the message of the playwright.
